Surkhet scandal
Chief District Officer of Surkhet refused to issue passport to a Buddhist monk and the monk was thus compelled to be disrobed. This is perhaps the first direct attack on Buddhism by the state after the infamous expulsion of Buddhist monks in 1943. I'm wondering how I'm going to analyze this incident if I'm supposed to write a book on Buddhism in Nepal.
